Institutional blockchain infrastructure provider Digital Asset, the creator of the Canton Network, has raised about $50 million in strategic investments from BNY, iCapital, Nasdaq and S&P Global, according to a person familiar with the deal. According to an announcement on Thursday, the strategic funding will build on Digital Asset’s strong momentum to scale the Canton Network following recent funding milestones that raised $135 million. The participation of these four big names highlights the range of institutions supporting the Canton Network, as big banks, exchanges, data, and wealth infrastructure all lend their weight to the same underlying blockchain stack. The integration, announced Wednesday, connects Franklin Templeton’s proprietary Benji Technology Platform to Canton, a blockchain network designed for regulated financial institutions. The move enables Benji’s tokenized assets, including its onchain US government money market fund, to be used as collateral and liquidity within Canton’s Global Collateral Network.     BitGo’s new custody support for Canton Coin allows regulated institutions to securely hold the Canton Network’s native token in the United States. Digital asset infrastructure company BitGo has added support for Canton Coin (CC), the native token of the Canton Network, in a move that could make it easier for US institutions to hold the asset through a qualified custodian. The companies announced the integration on Wednesday, saying it will give banks and asset managers compliant access to a network already processing significant volumes of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). The partnership introduces cold-storage custody and insurance-backed security, and could pave the way for future support of stablecoins, tokenized securities and other onchain financial instruments.     Chainlink integrated its data services and crosschain protocol into the institutional blockchain Canton Network and joined as a super validator. Chainlink has integrated with the Canton Network, an institutional blockchain backed by global banks and technology firms, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional adoption of blockchain technology. The partnership, announced Wednesday, brings Chainlink’s data service, including its data streams, smartdata (proof of reserve and NAVLink) and the crosschain interoperability protocol (CCIP) onto the Canton Network. The network has also joined the Chainlink Scale program, which helps cover oracle operating costs. As part of the agreement, Chainlink Labs will become a Canton Network “super validator.” A super validator is a combined node that runs a domain validator and a Canton synchronizer node. As a validator, P2P.org will operate nodes that verify and record transactions on the network. Launched in May 2023, Canton is a blockchain platform developed to support regulated institutions, with emphasis on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, interoperability and adherence to compliance standards. The move adds P2P.org — a staking infrastructure provider that reports managing over $10 billion in assets across more than 40 blockchain networks — to a growing list of participants in Canton’s ecosystem, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citi, Santander, Bank of America, HSBC and BNP Paribas.
