Adoption of 5G technology in Central and Eastern Europe, a region that includes Romania, is lagging behind developed regions, says the latest edition of Mobility Report, an annual report by Ericsson, one of the largest suppliers of equipment for telecommunications operators.

Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia Networks, three of the largest global producers of equipment and services suppliers for the telecom industry, reported declining turnovers in Romania for 2023.

Vodafone Romania, one of the largest players on the local communications market, has concluded a strategic partnership for the implementation of Ericsson technology for network development and 5G network deployment.

The Romanian subsidiary of Sweden’s Ericsson, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of equipment, software and services for telecom operators, had a net profit of RON21.7 million in 2021, up 45% on the year, in line with finance ministry data.
