The death toll from the collapse of a five-storey residential building in Karachi’s Lyari Baghdadi area has risen to 26, rescue officials confirmed on Saturday, as operations to clear the debris near completion.

At least 10 people died and nine were injured after a five-storey building collapsed in Karachi’s Lyari area on Friday, according to the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute Of Trauma (SMBBIT). According to data from the institute at Civil Hospital Karachi, seen by Dawn.com, nine bodies were brought to the hospital while one person died during treatment.
