Pakistan on Friday called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to urgently step in and help facilitate a peaceful resolution to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, warning that the situation threatens to destabilize the entire region.

A top Pakistani delegation briefed elected members of the United Nations Security Council on Monday about the “threat to regional peace” posed by India’s actions amid the recent spike in tensions between the two countries. The high-level team — consisting of three former foreign ministers, two former foreign sec­­retaries, two former ambassadors to the US, and a serving federal minister — arrived in New York yesterday for consultations at the United Nations, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement today. The delegation will also visit Washington DC, London and Brussels, the FO said. ISLAMABAD - The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday convened a closed-door session at Pakistan’s request to discuss the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in the context of the volatile situation in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to play an active role in de-escalating tensions in South Asia to safeguard regional and global peace.
