Romania ranks fifth among European Union Member States regarding the annual inflation rate, with consumer prices increasing by 5.2% in September 2021 compared to September 2020, based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), according to Eurostat data.
In the second quarter of 2021, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 2.2% in the euro area and by 2.1% in the EU compared with the previous quarter, according to estimates by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In the first quarter of 2021, GDP had declined by 0.3% in the euro area and 0.1% in the EU.
Romania recorded the tenth lowest youth unemployment rate among Member States of the European Union, in 2020, data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, showed Friday.
In May 2021, the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate stood at 7.9%, up from 7.5% in May 2020. At the same time, the EU unemployment rate was 7.3% in May 2021, up from 6.9% in May 2020, according to data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
