IPEC Alba Iulia, owned by Covaciu family and one of IKEA’s main suppliers on the Romanian market, expects a turnover of EUR37.5 million in 2026, up nearly 7% from EUR35 million reported in 2025, as per calculations by Ziarul Financiar (ZF) daily based on company data.
Swedish furniture and home décor retailer IKEA will be opening its third store in Romania, in western city of Timisoara, on June 8, 2023.
Sweden’s IKEA says the development of the store it is building near Timisoara will take 12 months, with variations depending on field work conditions.
The Paval brothers, owners of DIY retailer Dedeman, are in talks to buy land from businessman Ion Tiriac next to where the new Ikea is set to be in Timisoara and could pay EUR15 million for it, market sources say.
